June 2009

It's a real honor to have been voted onto Modern Drummer's 2009 Reader's Poll. It's a privilege to be mentioned along side so many amazing drummers. I got a special kick out of being pictured in the Tama ad along side my long time teacher and hero Kenny Aronoff. I think he's graced the pages of every Modern Drummer issue I've ever read so it's nice to be recognized with such a legend! I received a congratulatory phone call from my other long time teacher and hero Shawn Pelton. I could almost see the grin through the phone as he utter the phrase "I'm so fucking proud, dig it!", like a proud dad. I want to give a special thanks to all the Fiction Plane fans who voted for me! January 2009

Hey everybody. It was a great 2008! The biggest news was the birth of my son Ethan Duquesne! Amazing experience that keeps getting better everyday!

Fiction Plane had a great year. After ending the Police Tour in Hawaii (yes anytime please!), we enjoyed many summer festivals, touring with The Feeling, The Bravory, 311, and Snoop Dogg. We ended the year with a week tour in France and Holland with a sold out show at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. You can check out the show on the Listen/Watch page or at fabchannel.com . It was a huge present for the band and a milestone for us indeed!
This year has started with a writing session in NYC with Fiction Plane. I also played drums for LA artist Amy Kuney in NYC. More fun to come for sure!

April 2008

Here's an article about me in the April issue of Drummer Magazine in the UK. I really enjoyed this interview. Click on each page below (3 total) to enlarge.

My interview with the French drumming magazine Batteur has been published....click on the images below to enlarge.

August-October 2007

The Police Tour has been an amazing journey. From North America to highlights in Europe it's been a great experience for me and the band. The highlights have been our club show at The MelkWeg in Amsterdam for 1200 FP fans, the 80,000 rabid Police fans at the Stad de France in Paris, plus amazing shows at Wrigley Field and Madison Square Gardens. Check out our entire club show at the MelkWeg in Amsterdam at www.fabchannel.com...

We got a chance to play on the French music television program "Taratata" in Paris, on a boat on the canals in Amsterdam, and we have plans for Letterman in December.

I did interviews for "Batarista" French drumming magazine and for "Drummer" magazine in the U.K. They should be out soon.

June-July 2007

Hello all. It's been a month and a half on the big Police tour. It has been amazing. Great cities, great people, great venues, great food...all great! We are enjoying playing every night and my band, Fiction Plane, is even playing some new tunes in our ever changing set. We got the great honor of playing The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It was good fun, and Jay seemed like a really nice guy...
-- ---

We also got to play the Jimmy Kimmel show. He has the best green room in the business.

I have really enjoyed the chance to get to know Andy Summers, Sting and Stewart Copeland on a personal level. So much history with the three of them, and the stories are endless. The Police shows have been fun to watch and the endless stream of music and Hollywood "A" listers at the concerts is a site to see. Here's one of my favorite photos, and I'll post more soon.

Another personal highlight was getting to talk to the Foo Fighters legendary Dave Grohl, and his drummer Taylor Hawkins, two of my favorites. They put on a hell of a show at Dodger Stadium, and they are wicked guys.

March-May 2007

Fiction Plane on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" We're excited to be the musical guest on May 23!

I am pleased to announce that we have finished the new Fiction Plane album entitled "Left Side Of The Brain". It is due for a May 22nd release. We spent a good 5 weeks in Bath, England at Moles Studios with Paul Corkett (The Cure, Nick Cave, Tori Amos, Bjork) recording and mixing. It was the best recording experience of my lifetime. The band had a blast and we are excited about the result.

Fiction Plane has signed a new deal with Bieler Bros. Records out of Florida. So far it's been the best label experience of all. Their enthusiasm for this project is infectious and a breath of fresh air for this drummer!

Did a live TV performance with Ari Hest, Rob Calder and Thad DeBrock on the morning news show on Channel 11 in New York. We played the first single "So Slow" from Ari's album "The Break In" which was just released May 1st. I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere!

Did a recent session with singer songwriter Krista Detur. She is working on her third album for her European label El Corazon.

Fiction Plane to hit the road opening for The Police on their world reunion tour!

Yes, it's true, although I can barely believe it myself. My band, Fiction Plane, is honored to be the opening act for The Police on their upcoming tour. It should be an incredible experience, a once in a lifetime experience. Tama is building me a new kit for the tour and I can't wait to play it. Oct '06 - Feb 2007
Did pre-production with Fiction Plane in LA for upcoming album, due out in May. Recorded with amazing singer and close friend Crystal Kovach and her wiz producer husband Jake Kovach on her new record. I did another record, this time a kids album (my first), with kid genius Jake Kovach for singer Wild Wes.

Recorded an album on Martha's Vinyard with Dana Edelman (guitar/vocals), Chris Foley (guitar) and my good friend Rob Calder (bass) for Dana's new upcoming album. It was great fun by the ocean in the middle of nowhere making music with good friends. I also recorded with engineer producer Ray Martin for Alice Cohen's new album.

Played shows with Ari Hest at The Living Room
in NYC, and British singer-songwriter John Garrison (formally of the band Budapest) at the famous Bitter End in NYC's Greenwich Village.

Ari Hest has his second album out soon on Columbia records on May 1. I played drums on the single called "So Slow". Listen for it on radio.

December 2006
I will have an article in the Update section of the Feb 2007 issue of Modern Drummer Magazine, on newsstands this month.

Fiction Plane toured for 2 months opening for Sting on the Broken Music Tour Europe. 29 shows in 25 countries. By the end we had played for around 300,000 people. Highlights included Istanbul (Turkey), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia), Carcassonne and Lyon (France), and the last two shows Tallin (Latvia), Vilnius (Lithuania) where both Fiction Plane and Sting's band played "Next To You" together to end the nights.

October 2006
Flew to sunny LA to start preproduction on Fiction Plane's upcoming album. Been recording at the amazing Henson Studios. Went surfing in Malibu for 6 weeks and have become TOTALLY hooked!

Recorded on albums for singer-songwriter Crystal Kovach and children's artist Wild Wes with young hot producer Jake Kovach.

September 2006
Recorded with Ari Hest, Rob Calder, and Matt Beck for Ari's new album. Ari's new Columbia Records album is set for release in March '07.

Traveled to London to write and record with Fiction Plane as a trio. Played first show as a trio at the Bull & Gate. It was fun.
